To go along with the 2016 theme of GOLDEN, a group of year 12 students and staff at St Catherine's in Melbourne are cutting off their ponytails in support of cancer research in Australia. For those battling with cancer and their loved ones, getting through it takes an extraordinary amount of courage.
It is a cause very close to our hearts. As with many in the wider community, we too have been touched by the tragedy of cancer in our own families and communities. Ongoing research into cancer prevention and cure is critical in order to save precious lives in the future.
Ponytails 20cm or longer will be donated to local wig maker Waks Wigs in the Hawksburn Village, in support of women who have lost their hair whilst undergoing cancer treatment and the national Look Good... Feel Better campaign. Hopefully we can make a small contribution to help these women feel beautiful and at the same time raise much needed funds for the Cancer Council VIC.
A big thankyou to Hair and Beauty Training Australia for volunteering to cut and shave the hair and helping us make this event possible.
Also special mention to our fantastic sponsors Baker's Delight for providing products at the event and Village Cinemas for their donation of movie passes.
Our goal is to fundraise $10,000 but we have set our sights much higher! Thank you to those that have donated! And keep them coming! WE ARE CUTTING PONYTAILS FIRST WEEK BACK AT SCHOOL TERM 3!
Please jump on board and support us and help the fight against cancer!
